The Maple Leaf Brand first appeared more than 100 years ago. As
a leading Canadian Food company, Maple Leaf has evolved and grown
into a global food processing company and has operations across
Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia.
Maple Leaf Foods is a publicly traded company. Its common
shares are registered and traded under the symbol "MFI"
on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
In 1990, Maple Leaf Mills and Canada Packers merged to form the
company we know today as Maple Leaf Foods. In 1995, McCain Capital
Corporation and the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan Board acquired
controlling interest in Maple Leaf Foods. Since that time the
company has experienced significant growth.
The company’s expansion has involved major initiatives in
Western Canada. In 1997, the company acquired the Burns/Gainers
processing facilities in Winnipeg, Edmonton and Lethbridge; in
1998, the company commenced construction of a world class pork
processing plant in Brandon; and, in 1999, the company merged with
the Landmark Group which owned Landmark Feeds Inc. and Elite
Swine.
Maple Leaf Foods is organized into three segments: The Meat
Products Group, The Bakery Products Group and the Agribusiness
Group.
The Meat Products Group include the operations of Maple Leaf
Pork, Maple Leaf Consumer Foods, Maple Leaf Poultry, and Maple
Leaf Foods International.
The Agribusiness Group includes Rothsay, Maple Leaf Foods’
